A Swansea-based civil engineering and land surveying firm – Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchen Inc., recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to several high school seniors living in Belleville and Edwardsville.
Veronika Tomonoya, a graduate of Edwardsville High School this year, will head after a civil engineering degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign later this year. She was ranked top of her class in many subjects and proved strong and determined to get the results she wanted.
Chloe Howenstein, who graduated from Belleville Township High School East this year, will head on to Missouri University of Science & Technology to go after a degree in civil and architectural engineering.
Finally, Ugwem Eneyo will head on to the same University as Tomonoya to complete her bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering and international relations. Eneyo, who is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, was also a student leader at Edwardsville High School where she graduated in 2009.
